MCVX (Marketing, Communications and Visitor Experience) supports SFMOMA's mission by:

  • Crafting inviting messaging through advertising, social media and community partnerships to inspire visitorship
  • Getting the word out and activating public interest through media relations and by sharing inside stories

Internship Duration

Full time, starting Monday, June 10, 2019 - Friday, August 16, 2019

 

Educational Objectives

    • Determine if working in Marketing for an arts institution is a desired career goal
  • Gain experience in analyzing:
  • data from a wide variety of sources
  • marketing tactics used in campaign planning
    • market conditions, competitors' activities and consumer behavior

  • Develop the communication skills needed to share and report complex data in an understandable, actionable manner 
  •  

Requirements

  • College student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field
  • Understands digital marketing best practices and follows related technology trends
  • Effective communicator and comfortable multi-tasking while working with varying teams across the organization
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Analytical and able to translate complex data into actionable recommendations
  • Previous experience analyzing organic and paid marketing campaigns
  • Proficient in applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint etc.
  • Previous experience with:
  • Social Media publishing/reporting tools (Sprout Social, HootSuite, Spredfast, Sprinklr, etc)
  • CRM platforms (Salesforce, Tessitura)
  • Email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Wordfly, Constant Contact)
  • Project management tools (Asana, Airtable)

 

Project Plan

The Marketing Intern will analyze and report on SFMOMA's existing marketing research (including the potential visitor survey, data from the 3/21 Culture for Community Free Day, social media metrics and email marketing campaigns) and current marketing efforts to identify opportunities to engage prospective visitors in the Bay Area and increase attendance at forthcoming exhibitions. Based on the intern's areas of interest and expertise, we will collaboratively determine which specific audiences/populations to further research.

  • College transcript: Transcripts can be unofficial, but need to be readable.
  • Availability for an in-person interview starting in early April. Skype and phone interviews will be considered for students who are abroad or far from California.
