SFMOMA believes the art of our time is vital and shares it with passion and purpose. The Marketing & Communications (M+C) department materializes that mission by increasing the visibility of and engagement with SFMOMA. By strengthening SFMOMA's brand, developing and diversifying our audiences, planning strategic communications, and conducting market research, M+C informs strategic and tactical decisions that drive attendance and support for the museum.

The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) is preparing for a major exhibition, Diego Rivera's America in 2020. This exhibition includes a collaboration with the City College of San Francisco (CCSF) to display Rivera's historic mural, Pan American Unity, as the cornerstone of the exhibit. While Rivera's exhibition does not open at SFMOMA until October of 2020, the collaboration between SFMOMA and CCSF, surfaces an opportunity to leverage the legacy of Rivera's works and stories to engage audiences in advance of the opening.

The intern will lead the development of a geocache journey through San Francisco, where the coordinates align with the location of Rivera's artworks (e.g., San Francisco Art Institute, City Club, San Francisco Public Library, etc.) as well as key places (e.g., City Hall where he remarried Frida Kahlo). This Rivera treasure map will not only generate excitement for SFMOMA's exhibition, it will deepen the context of Rivera's work for museum guests and enrich their experience. As a representative of SFMOMA, the intern will act as an ambassador of the museum to other San Francisco institutions.

SFMOMA is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity.
