SFMOMA Library's holdings of books, serials and ephemera broadly document local and international history of modern and contemporary art and the collections are housed both at the Museum and off-site at the Museum's Collections Center.

The aim of SFMOMA's Library and Archives Department is to provide interns a well-rounded experience in an art library environment. This internship opportunity works directly with our Library collections and participates in a processing project within our diverse holdings. The interns will work with the Head of the SFMOMA Library & Archives and the Library's Cataloger, who will serve as supervisors.

Our summer intern will work on a processing project involving a collection of historical exhibition catalogs and pamphlets. Interns will apply SFMOMA Library cataloging standards and have the opportunity to learn professional library skills while working with unique, historical materials. The intern will expand their knowledge of historical Bay Area arts organizations as well as international art institutions and galleries. Interns will learn research techniques through firsthand experience of handling historical collections of published catalogs and pamphlets from art institutions and galleries.
